Arab League chief: Two decades of talks with Israel have been a waste of time.
LHV news, Arab League Chief Nabil Elaraby in a press conference in Ramallah, the West Bank, criticized two decades of talks with the Zionists and called for a new bid for Palestine’s U.N. membership.
“Palestine will be cooperating with Arab and EU countries to change the equation (in the peace process) that prevailed over the past 20 years, which was a waste of time. The international community should impose a new solution to the conflict between Palestinians and Zionists,” Elaraby said after meeting Palestinian officials. He also called on Palestinians to take a new statehood bid to the U.N.
Talks collapsed in 2008 after Zionists ignored Palestinian groups’ request to stop settlement plans and occupying their lands. The United Nations Security Council voted to upgrade Palestine’s status to an observer state after Hamas defeated Zionists in the recent war despite widespread dissents and acts of sabotage.
